Music - a good read to educate yourself about Genre's of Music.
Styles Of Music Music is so diversified and subjective that it is impossible to define any style of music as purely one specific Genre. A Genre is just an "Umbrella Term" and is best thought of as a way in which to link songs with similar traits and sounds together under one Specific Grouping so that people can have a way in which to describe their musical tastes. Therefore Genre's of music are used to loosely define different flavors and are intended to be very general. If you get right down to the core of a musical Genre, each and every Genre has Hybrid qualities of another Genre. This is the beauty of music. How it is forever linked through influence and experimentation brought on by music of yesterday right through to the musical breakthroughs of today. To the Right is a very detailed breakdown of the various types of Genre's of music that would be of interest to the common Musicologist. I don't mean to overwhelm you with this list at all. You can see how many subtypes of music emerged during the 80's & right through to today. You might even be familiar with a few of the "Old School" Fads.
